Le FabLab de Bottrop, en Allemagne
Another Fab Lab, located in Bottrop, Germany

We are (I should write “we will be”, we are currently starting…) a FabLab located in Quebec City (Canada).

What is a FabLab ?

A Fab Lab is a small-scale workshop offering (personal) digital fabrication. A Fab Lab is typically equipped with an array of flexible computer-controlled tools that cover several different length scales and various materials, with the aim to make “almost anything”. This includes technology-enabled products generally perceived as limited to mass production.

The Fab Lab movement is closely aligned with the DIY movement, open-source hardware, maker culture, and the free and open-source movement, and shares philosophy as well as technology with them.

We target startups, designers, artists and basically anybody interested in building a prototype in order to go faster to the market and test their ideas.

Our story

Why “4D” ? Mainly because 4 degrees (C) is the average temperature in Quebec City (yes, it is quite cold sometimes ! )

Seriously, “4D” has another meaning as well: it means we are entering in another dimension, a place where personal and decentralized manufacturing start to make sense.

More coming soon… stay tuned ! (Hint: if you are not known to be the more patient person :- ), there is more content on french part of this web site. Click here)
